Domain of competence

1. Tests in the regulated and non-regulated domain for products, elements, structures for engineering and construction works:

  • concrete, reinforced concrete, precast concrete, cement, metal, mineral aggregates, concrete elements, natural stone, ceramic blocks, concrete structural elements, masonry structural elements;
  • bitumen, asphalt mixtures, bituminous emulsion, road concrete, crushed mineral aggregates, compacted soils, filler materials, drainage materials and systems for roads and slopes;
  • mortars, adhesives, wood elements and structures, thermal, waterproof, corrosion, biochemical and ecological protections, doors, windows, plastic materials, paints, varnishes, heat insulating products, un-plasticized polyvinyl chloride profiles, floors, claddings;
  • natural soils, excavations, supports, geotechnical drilling, geomembrane systems, geogrids, dynamic compaction, consolidation of foundation soils, improvement of foundation soil;
  • constructions and construction elements, sound absorbing materials, acoustic panels (absorption characteristics/acoustic impedance), laboratory measurement of airborne acoustic noise isolation characteristics for doors, windows, partitions, internal / external noise level;
  • protective helmets for industrial use (shock absorption);
  • metal rails, welded head-to-head rails (static bending);
  • noise reduction devices for road and rail road traffic (sound barriers): acoustic performances and mechanical performances;
  • mechanical joints for the hot-rolled steel (mechanical couplings);
  • structural bearings conforming to EN 1337: sliding elements, structural bearings type A, B, C. D. E and F, roller bearings, pot bearings, rocker bearings, spherical and cylindrical PTFE bearings, guided bearings and restrained bearings;
  • anti-seismic devices conforming to EN 15129: elastomeric isolators, rigid connections devices (permanent connection devices, fuse restraints and temporary connection devices, fluid viscous dumpers, fluid spring dampers, velocity/displacement dependent devices, curved / flat surface sliders, combined devices;
  • geotextiles, geomembranes, geocomposites;
  • curtain walls;
  • self-supporting metallic roof panels;
  • self-supporting, insulating sandwich panels with metal sheet on both sides;
  • windows and external pedestrian door-sets;
  • interior door-sets;
  • concrete precast elements and structures, metal, wood, composites, metallic, wood and concrete barriers for roads;
  • systems and materials for pollution reducing (noise, emissions of gases, dust, pollutant fluids), systems and materials used in order to assure the strength, stability and service of the buildings (facade scaffolding, handrails);
  • liquid or paste polyurethane materials, elastomeric materials, silicone materials with, instantaneous reaction, electrostatic materials, electromagnetic shielding materials, shape memory materials, magneto-rheological materials, sandwich structures, asphalt mix structures, shape memory materials equipment and structures, intelligent structures, composite materials structures (polymeric, carbon fibres, glass fibres, silicone paste) with predictable behaviour to dynamic and seismic actions.

2. Tests in the regulated and non-regulated domain for materials, products and equipment for building services and embedded equipment:

  • wastewater treatment plants small wastewater treatment systems up to 50 PT, prefabricated and / or in situ assembled wastewater treatment plants, septic tanks, prefabricated and / or in situ assembled septic tanks, grease separators, separators for light liquids, room heaters fired by solid fuel, inset appliances including open fires fired by solid fuel, residential cookers fired by solid fuel, residential independent boilers fired by solid fuel, HVAC systems, pipes, low voltage appliances, safes, ATM safes, strongrooms doors, deposit systems, secure safe cabinets, burglary resistant windows, doors, shutters and blinds;
  • enclosures’ reverberation duration, noise level in industry / environment, equipment vibration level.

3. Tests in the regulated and non-regulated domain for construction and town management machinery and equipment:

  • excavators, bulldozers, graders, scrapers, dumpers, loaders, concrete plants, mixing systems, concrete mixers trucks, formworks, concrete pumps, asphalt mixing plants, asphalt finishers, vibratory compactors for natural soil (roads and in-fills), asphalt compactors, compactors for finishing joints;
  • construction machines and equipment (acoustic power of noise sources, occupational noise exposure, operator exposure to vibrations transmitted by the seat, hand-arm or whole body).

4. Tailor made tests based on customers’ requirements and specifications:

  • analysis of self-vibrating modes of building structures (translation, torsion);
  • metal shelves: top bending, post buckling and resistance limit.

The laboratory consists of the following test groups:

  • LIA – Tests group for mineral aggregates
  • LETICS – Tests group for exterior thermal insulation composite system
  • LIN – Tests group for non-destructive tests on concrete structures
  • LIP – Tests group for floors
  • LIF – Tests group for interior and exterior finishings with mortars and paints
  • LIR – Tests group for materials used in road structures
  • PSL – Tests group for wood products and structures
  • TEST-  Tests group for construction machines, equipment and building services products
  • LDN – Tests group for harmful agents level determination: dust, , gases, powders
  • LAU – Tests group for noise and vibration parameters determination
  • PTCI-LAB – Tests group for heating appliances thermal power determination (interior appliances)
