History

RESEARCH INSTITUTE FOR CONSTRUCTION EQUIPMENT AND TECHNOLOGY – ICECON S.A. continues the long tradition of more than 60 years of scientific construction research in Romania, in the field of products, processes, technologies and equipments for the mechanization of construction works and building services. ICECON S.A. represents a new form of structural organization of the former scientific construction research institutes that carried out this activity since 1950.

By the Romanian Government Decision no. 550/1995 promoted by Romanian Ministry of Public Works the former  Research Institute in Construction – INCERC’s Construction Equipment and Technologies Department  has been transformed into a research institute named: the Research Institute for Equipment and Building Technologies – ICECON S.A. Currently ICECON S.A. is a wholly owned private company .

In March 2000, ICECON S.A. joined as a partner member the European Association of Testing and Certification Bodies for the Quality of Machinery – EUROTEST.

In January 2007, the Romanian Authority designated ICECON S.A. as Notified Body authorized to perform the conformity assessment in the field of construction products,           in accordance with the Construction Products Directive 89/106/EEC.

In 2008, by the decision no. 9634 issued by the National Authority for Scientific Research N.A.S.R., ICECON S.A. is certified as a research institute qualified to carry out R&D – I activities which are publicly funded and is listed in the Register of Potential Contractors (RPC) of N.A.S.R., with the right to bid in the National and European Research – Development – Innovation Projects competitions.

In February 2012, the Romanian Authority designated ICECON S.A. as Technical Approval Body authorized to issue European Technical Approvals in the field of construction products, in accordance with the Construction Products Directive 89/106/EEC.

In May 2012, following the notification, ICECON S.A. applied and became member of the European Organization for Technical Approval (EOTA), which subsequently became the European Technical Assessment Organization, in the field of construction products.

In June 2014, the Romanian Authority designated ICECON S.A. as a European Technical Assessment Body for construction products, according to Regulation No. 305 / 09.03.2011.

In April 2017, the Romanian Authority designated ICECON S.A. as Notified Body authorized to perform of specific functions for the assessment and verification of constancy of performance of construction products, according to Regulation No. 305, Annex V, for the AVPC system 3.
